Heavenly Calendar
The Temperal Calendar was made by an ancient city built entirely out of Temples dedicated to the First Known Deities. This City came to call itself, Malumalu. It was led by a family with 21 children, 19 of these children dedicated themselves to each of the known deities as they were all Oracle’s. Recorded among the first to spread the deities' words and songs. The last 2 developed the core of the City, 1 built the first communal gazebo while the other built the actual Castle that stood as the Royal Throne. Together the siblings created a way to measure the seasons they observed around the world.
They first measured what elements seemed to be the strongest during the seasonal cycle. During when the ground was bare and cold. The predators were visible and rearing for a hunt, as a deathly silence would fall over the lands…this came to be known as the Season of Air, Diurva [Winter]. To counter this silence the lands would fight back, grow green again. Thrive as life took its hold over the silence. This became the Season of Water; Britha [Spring]. Following this thriving life, passion would take hold as the mortal races felt their souls ignite. The lands would burst with this inner flood of emotion. This became the Season of Fire; Alafa [Summer]. Then it seemed like everything calmed. Almost giving up to that silence again, so the mortal races sought to prepare for the chill, for that silence. This became the Season of Earth, Crigga [Autumn].
Then the Oracles stepped into their power, sensing how long their deity seemed to be…in power. This is how they measured the length of the month, a duration of time that their deity held influence over the land. There seemed to be 12 months where the most impactful of the deities seemed to show themselves. These are deities that stepped out into the limelight as pillars of the natural order of things. They aren’t counted as the most important, although those uneducated could assume so. After them 7 stepped up as taking over the days of the week, rounding out the Elder Gods roster. The deities who stepped up for the week were constantly showing themselves to help the mortals cope with the 12.
Every deity has a festival which takes place either in their Month, or in the Month of a deity who impacts their history. Some threw their festivals just to irritate the others, everything the Oracles spoke of was meant to enrich their lives and the lives of those around them.
Two of the Deities backed out of forming the Calendar due to personal reasons. Ovan backed out in order to grant the power to the oracle bonds between the deities and the mortals, at the start. Then he just effed off to leave it to the Fates. Meanwhile, Magesc backed out in order to power the elemental bonds between the material and his planes. Thus giving the seasons their boons.

Some are complex rituals, puzzles and riddles testing mind and spirit. Others are tests of endurance, agility, and strength. Betting and boasts are a much enjoyed portion and the contests themselves are openly viewed by the public to cheer on their favorites. The top three are given the honorary title of Warden followed by celebration where the previous Wardens hand off the mantle to any new Wardens or retain their station from the previous year. These Wardens represent the common people in matters of ceremony and any concerns or grievances to the Crown and city councils until the next years contest. Being a warden is often the path to guild leaderships or council seats and even titles from the crown. The history behind the trials and celebrations is vaguely remembered from the time of city states when open warfare was avoided by settling issues between the Wardens of each city state. There was also a darker reason for the intricate rituals and ceremony. Now considered just a spiritual and mental exercise, they serve an unknown purpose strengthening ancient Runes and Spells against something truly horrific that is ever vigilant and hungry.
